Our creations are paralleled with research on choreography, about choreography, through choreography, not only choreographies on stage, or the performative body, but the choreographies of everyday life.
RESEARCH ON MOVEMENT + CHOREOGRAPHY
This work explores the micro and micro choreographic gestures of the body, in its affording interactions with a chair object. A chair, as a agent and artifact, that imposes pre-determined gestures and physical movements on the body of individuals. An interaction that one could argue allows for no negotiation and response. How do these design objects, thus silently affect and restrain our human bodies?
SPECULATIVE CHAIR BODIES
Alien Bodies. The gif provides a visualization of a highly complex interaction between a body and a chair.
Choreographic Phenomena: The Body in its Performance of the Everyday, presents multi-sited creations as critical investigations of design as a choreographic mediation; in order to reveal how the body may be conditioned through its interaction within our everyday artificially built environment. The work refuses a final creation, rather proposes a collection of critical design works which are juxtaposed and in dialogue with each other, to serve as tools for investigation. The research investigates the interactional exchange between a body and its environment, proposing a choreographic analysis as a cross disciplinary methodology to understand the way we interact and are choreographed by our every day.
